  • Notes
    • 1900 Census ED82, Marshall Co., shows Walter Medlock living next door
to John R. Medlock and family. The assumption is that this is John's
son. It is listed as follows:
Walter Medlock b. 11/1874 GA farmer
      Lula J. Medlock wife b. 5/1881 GA
      Eunice A. Medlock daughter b. 12/1898 AL

Walt Medlock was the "Sorghum King" of Sand Mountain. There is a
picture of Walt Medlock at his sorghum cooking pan taken in 1946 in
the book "Out of the Sand" by T.J. Carnes, published 1991.

My dad remembers seeing Walt Medlock once when he was a boy. My
father had gone with his father, to visit his grandfather who lived
next door to Walt. While there they saw Walt coming from his fields
and he spoke my grandfather a while. My dad still remembers the syrup
      mill Walt had.
