Help: Cemeteries

Manage

This tab allows you to locate existing cemeteries, then edit or delete them.

Search for
Enter a keyword (or part of a word) matching all or part of any of the following fields: Cemetery ID, Cemetery Name, City, County, State, Country, Map File Name. A cookie will store the value entered here for future searches. Click the Search button to execute the search. Click the Reset button to blank out the field. If the Search button is clicked with no search criteria, all cemetery records will be returned.

Exact match only
Check this box prior to clicking the Search button to restrict the results to place names that match the search criteria exactly.

Click on the appropriate icon in the Action column to edit or delete the cemetery record listed on that row.

Add New / Modify Existing Cemeteries

To add a new cemetery, click on the Add New tab, then fill out the form. To edit an existing cemetery, click on the Manage tab, then locate the cemetery using the Search utility and click the Edit icon next to that cemetery.

Fields available on both the Add New Cemetery and Modify Existing Cemetery screens include:

Cemetery Name
Include the full, proper name for the cemetery. For example, the Salt Lake City Cemetery should be entered as "Salt Lake City Cemetery", not just "Salt Lake City" or "Salt Lake".

Map Image to Upload
If you have a map or other photo of this cemetery and it has not yet been uploaded to your web site, click Browse and locate it on your hard drive. If the photo is already in the Headstones folder on your site, leave this field blank.

Map File Name within headstones folder
If you had previously uploaded your map or photo using FTP, enter the path and file name as it exists within the Headstones folder on your web site. If the map or image is already on your site, you can click on the Select button to locate the file. If you are uploading your map or photo now using the previous field, use this box to enter a path and file name for your file after it is uploaded. A suggested path and file name will be prepopulated for you. NOTE: If you are uploading now, the directory you indicate here must already exist and must be writeable by all. If not, use your FTP program to create the directory and give it proper rights (use the command CHMOD 777; 775 or 755 will also work in many cases).

City, County/Parish, State/Province/Shire, Country
Enter as much information as you know about the location of this cemetery. Country is required, but each of the other fields is optional.

For State/Province/Shire and Country, select an existing entry using the dropdown box. If the desired entry is not present, use the Add New link to add it to the list. If an entry in the list does not belong there, first select it and then click on the Delete Selected link.

Latitude/Longitude
Enter the latitude and longitude coordinates of the cemetery (optional).

Notes
If additional information is needed to describe the cemetery or its location, enter it here (optional).

Delete Cemeteries

To delete a cemetery, click on the Delete icon next to that cemetery on the Manage tab. Associated headstones or map images will not be deleted.
