Hello, thank you for sharing information on the Herron family. My dad's family are scattered from South Carolina to California. Would like to hear from other Herron family members.

Hi Martha! Great website and photos are fabulous. I am researching the Cobb/Shelby line. I have seen many of the headstones in the Confederate Cemetery in Jemison, AL while attending family reunions as a child. I'll make another trip there soon. Thanks, Jamise

Greetings,
I'm a Herron, just climbing the trees, or trying to at least. You have a nice site here. I can tell you have put in many hours and it shows. Good luck, maybe we will meet on a limb some day.

Hello Martha - your site has been very interesting for me. I'm the great great grandson of Rcihard Mordecai b 1824 in Gelligan through hsi eledest son William b 1847. I not you have information about his sister Mary and brother Thomas. They both moved to California sometime before 1880. You have details of Thomas family and you may be interested in what I know about Mary. She married a Miles Jervis in wales and emigrated to the USA. She appears in the 1880 US census as Merdika Jervis - well as another Mordecai you will have experienced the problem people have in spelling our surname! Seems that the 1880 census taker had the same problem.
Best wishes.
Jonathan Mordecai - Sheffield England

Thanks for writing Jonathan.
Not only did they have a problem spelling the name, but pronouncing it as well. Just recently found upon visiting Mordecai's in Wales that it is pronounced "Morde kay" not "khi".
Send me an email so we can communicate.

Your site is wonderful. I am trying to find my grandfather Roy C. Herron of Indianapolis ancestors. Unfortunately, your Herron's didn't spend anytime in PA. where Roy's father is from. Roy was orphaned when he was 7- so I don't have much to go on.
Thanks for sending me your link, I'll pass it on as I continue my search.
